Locorotondo

with claims as to be Puglia's pretiest little town

That claim my not be true as Locorotondo is up against some stiff competition, but it certainly has a look!

Located in the Valle d'Itria, this town is noted in so many articles as a town not to be missed. It has the designation of 'Borghi più belli d'Italia' (one of the most beautiful villages in Italy).

I think one of the reasons it is such a pleasant town as it, as with others in the area, have no named tourist attractions. You come to Locorotondo. located between Martina Franca and Alberobello, to be there, not necessarily to see a list of sights.

Park in one of the lots that are just below the historic centre and walk along one of the pedestrian streets to enjoy the town.

Like so many of the town, they date back to 3rd or 7th Century BC. In more recent time, the town was an unfortified hamlet under the jurisdiction of the Benedictine monastery of St. Stephen in Monopoli. The last of the feudal lorders living in Locorotondo until the beginning of the 19th century.

We enjoyed the town, however, we left with a bad taste because of a horrible lunch. We found all the good restaurants were completly filled and the one place that had a table available, well that was a mistake.

But before the lunch we enjoyed walking down the narrow winding streets. When we arrive there was a major photo shoot taking place. Models, photographer, lighting, attends - quite alot going on. That got me in the mood!

We visited a few churches, they were very attractive with domes and plaster work. One of the buildings that stood out with the Baroque stone doorway and the iron railing on the balconies is the Palazzo Morelli built in the 1800s.
