Our travels in France and Italy started as with those of many others: visiting the main cities, seeing the principle sites and relying on the site and hotel recommendations found in travel books.
Over the course of the more than twenty years of traveling, our annual trips have expanded to more of seeing the region, driving the smaller local roads and experiencing the country.
Our preference is a combination of culture and relaxing around a pool or on the beach which is why traveling in France or Italy is such a pleasure as it offers so much of both.
We are not travel agents; we have no pre-booked packages to sell. Some hotels we recommend are based on our personal experience. We have not, however, stayed or inspected all hotels that we recommend, but feel confident in our recommendations in our two countries of expertise.
Due to our extensive travels and savvy research our selections have proven to be great places to stay. We base the selection on certain criteria: good road access to see all the sights we want to see, charm of the hotel and/or location of the hotel that has a “drop dead” view.
Our ultimate desire is to select a hotel that has a “wow factor” and we have had a lot of success over the years. At times we will sacrifice one of our objectives due to the strength of one of the other criterion. It is not difficult if money is no object, but we like the excitement of finding that special place or gem that makes you feel great that you are getting a “good bang for your buck”!!!
